Gossip Girl #1 A Novel Gossip Girl Series Cecily Von Ziegesar Books
As I continue to re-read the Gossip Girl series now as an adult (first read in high school) I do see the glaring problems with showing bulimia and not in a this person is suffering and needs help kind of way, but in a as long as she stays thin and beautiful everyone around her will pretend everything is all right kind of way. I think a book written specifically for a preteen/teenage female audience should be a bit more responsible.Tags : Amazon.com: Gossip Girl #1: A Novel (Gossip Girl Series) (9780316910330): Cecily Von Ziegesar: Books,Cecily Von Ziegesar,Gossip Girl #1: A Novel (Gossip Girl Series),Poppy,0316910333,School & Education - Boarding School & Prep School,Social Themes - Dating & Sex,Social Themes - General,High schools,High schools;Fiction.,Interpersonal relations,New York (N.Y.),New York (N.Y.);Fiction.,Schools,Schools;Fiction.,Wealth,Children's Teenage fiction & true stories,Children: Young Adult (Gr. 10-12),Fiction,Fiction-General,JUVENILE,JUVENILE FICTION Social Themes Adolescence & Coming of Age,Juvenile Fiction,Juvenile Grades 10-12 Ages 15+,Monograph Series, any,New York,New York (N.Y.),New York (N.Y.);Fiction.,REFERENCE General,School & Education - Boarding School & Prep School,Schools,Schools;Fiction.,Social Themes - Adolescence,Social Themes - Dating & Sex,Social Themes - General,TEEN'S FICTION - GENERAL,United States,Wealth,YOUNG ADULT FICTION,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Lifestyles City & Town Life,YOUNG ADULT FICTION School & Education Boarding School & Prep School,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes Bullying,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes Class Differences,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes Dating & Sex,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes Friendship,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes General (see also headings under Family),Young Adult FictionGirls & Women,Young Adult FictionLifestyles - City & Town Life,Young Adult FictionSchool & Education - Boarding School & Prep School,Young Adult FictionSocial Themes - Bullying,Young Adult FictionSocial Themes - Class Differences,Young Adult FictionSocial Themes - Dating & Sex,chick lit; ya chick lit; teen chick lit; high school; high school drama; nyc; relationships; friendships; drugs; cyberbullying; cyber bullying; sex; gossip girl books; gossip girl book 1; teen sex; drugs; teens online; gossip website; gg series; upper class teens; privilege; prep school; boarding school; rich kids; prep school kids; Serena Van Der Woodsen; Blair Waldorf; Nate Archibald; Jenny Humphrey; Dan Humphrey, chick lit; ya chick lit; teen chick lit; high school; high school drama; nyc; relationships; friendships; drugs; cyberbullying; cyber bullying; sex; gossip girl books; gossip girl book 1; teen sex; teens online; gossip website; gg series; upper class teens; privilege; prep school; boarding school; rich kids; prep school kids; Serena Van Der Woodsen; Blair Waldorf; Nate Archibald; Jenny Humphrey; Dan Humphrey,JUVENILE FICTION Social Themes Adolescence & Coming of Age,REFERENCE General,Social Themes - Adolescence,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Lifestyles City & Town Life,YOUNG ADULT FICTION School & Education Boarding School & Prep School,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes Bullying,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes Class Differences,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes Dating & Sex,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes Friendship,YOUNG ADULT FICTION Social Themes General (see also headings under Family),Young Adult FictionGirls & Women,Young Adult FictionLifestyles - City & Town Life,Young Adult FictionSchool & Education - Boarding School & Prep School,Young Adult FictionSocial Themes - Bullying,Young Adult FictionSocial Themes - Class Differences,Young Adult FictionSocial Themes - Dating & Sex,Fiction,Rich,YOUNG ADULT FICTION,Children: Young Adult (Gr. 10-12),Children's Teenage fiction & true stories
Gossip Girl #1 A Novel Gossip Girl Series Cecily Von Ziegesar Books Reviews
This was really awesome! It really developed the characters well. The head hoping was a little confusing at first, but after a while you could kinda start predicting whose feelings, thoughts, and point-of-views belonged to who--the writer organized the stream of thoughts well. This book has definitely encouraged me to read the next one in the series.
I read a bunch of Gossip Girl books in high school in absolutely no order. They were all rentals from the library. I loved these books when I first read them and would like to collect the entire series to own. While I am collecting the series I am re-reading the books for the third time. I really enjoy diving back into a series I enjoyed so much growing up!
I bought this book thinking I would like it. Surprisingly, I enjoy the TV show, so I thought I would enjoy the book. It seems it's a lot easier to watch crap than it is to read crap. I seriously regret spending $8.99 on this book. It is so shallow with no depth at all. The parents in these books allow the children to get away with everything. Family breakfast include the kids ordering scotch or vodka. Each character is either doped up or drunk(at 15). Best friends turn on each with the slightest arguement. Everyone sleeps with everyone. I barely finished this book and I can't believe teens are reading it. Why are these books so popular?
Very short books... you have to keep buying the next book to get a decent length story.
Can't stop reading, but that's because I can't stop a series once I've started. I'm dedicated. Lol but I like it but at the same time I just don't feel like the characters are realistic and maybe that's because I grew up in a small town in Oklahoma and we don't have super duper rich heiresses running around, or I haven't met one.
I did this backwards. I loved GG on TV, so then I decided to track down the books.
They're fabulous. Blair is such a B...and Serena is...well, Serena! I was worried that the books wouldn't have the same awesomness as the series, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'll be reading the entire series now, thanks.
Gossip Girl is my guilty pleasure. I loved reading about the naughty lives the Upper East Siders lead, and living vicariously through them. Totally a fun read, and I cannot wait for book #2 to arrive!
Usually, the book is better, but in this case it wasn't. If I read the book first, I might have liked it more; however, since I watched the show first and enjoyed that so much, the book just didn't live up to my expectations.
I think a book written specifically for a preteen/teenage female audience should be a bit more responsible.
